Revelation 20, 21, & 22
The sixth trumpet sounds and the next horror breaks forth on the earth. Four angels who were bound in the Euphrates River are set free. These must be fallen angels, demons, as they are bound there. A tremendous army from the east, numbering two hundred million, comes forth to slay one third of the earth's population. It has been felt by some that this is a literal army of men from the east, possibly China. That is certainly a possibility, but from the description of the army, it seems more likely that it is a demonic army. Look at how they are described. They have breastplates of fire and brimstone. The horses' heads are like the heads of lions and fire and smoke and brimstone issue from their mouth. They have tails of serpents that bite. It seems that this is probably a demonic cavalry. There have been five months of horrible pain and suffering, and now one third of the earth's population has been destroyed. Yet note in verse 20 & 21 that the rest of the world does not repent in the face of these judgments! They continue in Demon worship, and worship of dumb idols, murder, drugs, illicit sex and dishonesty! The world has returned to Genesis 6:5, "And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually," which caused God to destroy the entire population of the world, except for eight people. Our world is moving closer and closer to the lifestyle of Genesis 6. God is yet waiting today for those who have not put their faith in Christ, and what He did for them on a cross at Calvary. Peter declares, in II Peter 3:9, that He is "longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." However, as God said in Genesis 6:3; "My Spirit shall not always strive with man." The day of retribution is coming, for all who reject His gracious offer of salvation.
