The third vial is poured out on the rivers and springs. This will contaminate all of the fresh water, so there will be nothing to quench their thirst except blood. The angel of the waters declares the justification for this judgment. They have shed the innocent blood of the saints and so they deserve to have blood to drink because of their sin.
